In fact, I made it a course requirement for students to be able to read and write simple sequential Erlang programs before attending. If you'd made it thru the first 4 chapters of Joe's book, you'd be good to go. Yep, lots of Macs at the class. And the one PC was running Fedora, so no Windows at all. Everyone had at least some exposure to Erlang prior to attending. In fact, I made it a course requirement for students to be able to read and write simple sequential Erlang programs before attending.
